London to Zagreb Flights: Heathrow, Stansted, Advent 2026

Verified · October 31, 2026 against the operator’s own page 10 min read

Two airlines fly London to Zagreb nonstop in winter 2026/27: Croatia Airlines (Heathrow), Ryanair (Stansted). Days, landing times, fares, Advent dates.

Nonstop London to Zagreb takes about 2 hours 15 minutes, and in winter 2026/27 two airlines sell it: Croatia Airlines from Heathrow on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and Ryanair from Stansted, one to three times a day. Their winter timetables hold two facts that matter more than the fare. Neither Croatia Airlines nor Ryanair flies between London and Zagreb on Friday 25 December, and Ryanair’s Friday-night flight lands at 00:10, so on Ryanair the first evening of a Friday-to-Sunday Advent break is gone before you reach the terminal; Croatia Airlines’ Friday landing from Heathrow at 20:05 still leaves a late one. Advent Zagreb itself runs from 28 November 2026 to 7 January 2027, and the landing times and fares on this page are for those dates.

Zagreb Airport’s own timetable is the sturdiest source, because it lists every scheduled flight with a first and last date. For Heathrow it shows Croatia Airlines alone: OU 491 lands at 20:05 and OU 490 leaves Zagreb at 14:40. The airline’s London page agrees on the days and gives the Saturday window as 4 January to 27 March 2027; its opening Saturday is 9 January, which is where the airport’s table starts. The Friday flight has a hole in it. The airport’s table ends the Friday pattern on 18 December and restarts it on 1 January, so Christmas Day is the one Friday without an OU flight in either direction.

On board, the London page promises complimentary food and drinks. The fare is another matter: the page’s list of “from” prices sits inside an HTML comment, so the page doesn’t show it, and its price calendar fills in only after you pick dates. We print no Croatia Airlines fare for that reason. What the airline does publish is the bag. On FlyEasy, its entry fare family, the price includes no checked bag, and the first one on an international flight costs €30 each way if you add it more than 24 hours before departure and €40 inside the last 24 hours (baggage page, read 31 October 2026).

Most of the route’s flights are Ryanair’s, and its Stansted-Zagreb times are the ones that shape an Advent weekend. British Airways has stepped back: the airport’s table lists no BA flight from Heathrow before the winter schedule ends on 27 March 2027, and FlightsFrom.com, an aggregator rather than the airline, shows the route beginning again on 28 March 2027.

Landing time decides the first evening

Ryanair’s weekly pattern is steady from 26 November 2026 to 8 January 2027. These are Zagreb times, and the Friday flight that lands after midnight is marked.

Sunday11:15 and 19:5506:10 and 14:50

Extra flights sit on top of this on Saturday 28 November and on 22, 23, 29 and 30 December. Otherwise the table is the week.

Read it against the evening you want. To have Friday evening in Zagreb on Ryanair you need the 07:50 from Stansted, which lands at 11:05; the Friday evening flight leaves at 20:55 and lands at 00:10. From Heathrow, Croatia Airlines’ Friday OU 491 lands at 20:05 (Fridays to 18 December), which still leaves a late evening at the markets. A Saturday landing at 17:30 still gets you into the centre in the early evening, which a Sunday landing at 19:55 doesn’t. Thursday is the thin day in both directions, with one Ryanair landing and one departure and no Croatia Airlines flight, and the same goes for Thursday 24 December. On Friday 25 December neither airline flies. Ryanair is back on Saturday 26 December, landing at 11:30 and 17:30; Croatia Airlines’ next Heathrow flight is Monday 28 December.

The late landings are the problem ones. Ryanair’s 23:35 on Mondays and 00:10 on Friday nights arrive when the airport shuttle is no longer timed to your flight. Pleso Prijevoz matches its late buses to Croatia Airlines landings, and the last ZET bus 290 passes the airport stop at about 00:32, which is a tight run after passport control. The options, with prices, are in Zagreb Airport to the city centre; on a late Ryanair landing, plan on a rank taxi or a booked driver. Croatia Airlines’ 20:05 lands while the shuttle still runs its regular evening timetable.

Clock times also fool people on this route. Ryanair’s 08:00 departure from Stansted lands at 11:15, which looks like 3 hours 15 minutes, but Zagreb is an hour ahead of London. Coming home, the 09:55 from Zagreb lands at 11:20 in London, and that’s 2 hours 25 minutes in the air once you take the hour back. The Saturday and Sunday first flights home leave at 06:25 and 06:10, which makes the last night a short one; the Sunday return that leaves room for a morning in the city goes at 14:50 and lands at 16:15.

What the fares look like on 31 October

Ryanair’s fare finder shows a lowest one-way fare for any window you ask about, so there are real numbers to compare. These are single fares for one adult on the UK site, in pounds, read on 31 October 2026. The time in brackets is the departure time of the flight that carries the fare.

Sat 2 - Mon 4 Jan£28.99 (Mon 4 Jan, 08:10)£118.45 (Mon 4 Jan, 06:20)

The expensive direction flips at Christmas. Before it, the way out of London is usually the dearer leg (£87.99 for 20 December against £21.99 to come back; 4-6 December is the exception, at £33.35 out and £42.99 back); after it, the way home (£97.99 to £118.45) costs roughly two to five times the way out. Each figure is the lowest fare in its window, which isn’t always a flight you’d choose: the £42.99 for 6 December is the 06:10 Sunday departure. They also don’t say what’s in the fare. Add the bag to both quotes before you compare Ryanair with Croatia Airlines, whose first checked bag is the €30 or €40 above, and look again at checkout. Fares move daily.

Gatwick, Luton and the coast

Heathrow is the only London airport on Croatia Airlines’ London page for Zagreb, and Ryanair’s Zagreb route list names Stansted, not Gatwick or Luton. FlightsFrom.com lists Gatwick-Zagreb with no airline operating it. One oddity: Zagreb Airport’s timetable carries London Gatwick as a destination with flydubai-coded departures from 16 December 2026 and no arrivals. We couldn’t find flydubai or the airport announcing it, so we don’t count it; if it appears for sale, it will be worth a second look.

In winter Zagreb is also the way to the coast. Croatia Airlines flies on from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, and Heathrow-Split is nonstop on Saturdays until 2 January 2027. The details of each are in London to Dubrovnik flights and London to Split flights, and Croatia in winter says what’s open once you’re there. If the coast is your plan, Zagreb to Dubrovnik compares the flight with the bus and the drive.

After landing at ZAG

Passport control comes first for UK travellers. A visa isn’t needed for a short stay, but the EU’s Entry/Exit System registers non-EU visitors on arrival, and ETIAS still wasn’t running in October 2026. The official sources and what to expect at the desk are in Croatia entry requirements, checked on 7 August 2026. The airport is in Velika Gorica, about 17 km from the centre, and the shuttle, bus 290, taxi and app rides are compared in Zagreb Airport to the city centre. Hire a car only if you’re leaving Zagreb: car rental at Zagreb Airport has the airport totals, and the markets themselves are on foot (the Zagreb Advent guide covers the trams that get diverted on weekend evenings).

One Advent weekend on the real timetable

Take Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December. Here’s the weekend as the timetables write it, with the times in Zagreb time.

  • Friday 4 December, optional: the 07:50 from Stansted lands at 11:05 and gives you the whole Friday; from Heathrow, Croatia Airlines’ OU 491 lands at 20:05 and still gives you a late evening; Ryanair’s 20:55 doesn’t, because it lands at 00:10.
  • Saturday 5 December: the 08:15 from Stansted lands at 11:30, with the lowest one-way fare shown on 31 October at £33.35. Croatia Airlines doesn’t fly that Saturday, since its Saturday service starts on 9 January.
  • Sunday 6 December: the 14:50 from Zagreb lands at Stansted at 16:15. The earlier 12:25 is a Saturday flight, and the Sunday 06:10 is the lowest fare, not the flight you’d choose.
  • Monday 7 December: Croatia Airlines’ OU 490 leaves Zagreb at 14:40 for Heathrow, a gentler end if you can take the Monday off.
